Welcome God into your life.
Because it matters in a terrifying way.
We Christinas love to talk about how powerful and unlimited God is.
But I say God is limited.
Well. C.S. Lewis said it so it must be true, right?
"God is a gentleman, and does not force Himself upon others."
In other words, God chooses to limit Himself when it comes to human wills. Could He break them? Yes. Is it crazy and beautiful that He doesn't? Yes. And actually, if you look at the life of Jesus , this holds up (and Jesus turns out to be the best picture was we have of God). He let the rich young ruler walk away and not choose him. He let crowds be divided and decide they didn't want to follow Him.
I think it made him sad, but at the same time, I think this shows us a really beautiful place where God wants to be chosen, welcomed.
Let me be clear. Grace is real. We don't earn favor from God. Jesus has that one covered. God is the one who ignited this divine love story we're a part of. But He wants to play ball — not hide and seek forever.
So, here's the good news. You can cultivate a life that welcomes God, that is soft towards His nudges. Don't' be silly and think that it can happen all at once. It's a process, a skill that takes a lot of learning and listening and messing up. But you, friend, can be one of the good ones that welcomes God into their life. Go ahead try it.
God, I welcome you. I don't even know what that means fully, but please come. There are places I choose death instead of life and I don't realize it. Show me those places. Show me you. You're invited.
