Jesus deserves all of our focus, but rarely gets it all.
But what does that mean? Should we think about Jesus as we chew our food, as we use the bathroom or put on socks? Is this what God requires?
Let me offer a metaphor: a husband in love with His wife. Of course he must put his attention on the daily mundaneness of life. In order to honor her, he performs well at work, pays attention to hygiene, etc. But all the while, his deepest treasure is his bride. She takes priority. He thinks about her throughout the day; He misses her in times of absence. His best attention is devoted to her.
