Go back to the Garden of Eden with me. I'd like to point out something sweet.
God never intended for us to know good and evil. In the Garden was the tree of life. The tree of the knowledge of good and evil was there, too. He said not to eat from the latter.
The way we grapple between choosing right and wrong wasn't even on the books in God's agenda. God only wanted us to know life (read: "Jesus").
I don't know about you, but I often feel like my Christian life is about keeping God happy by...
doing the right thing.
Nah. See, that's all our mess. God only wanted us to know what was life-giving. We had a whole garden, a whole world to explore and we managed to wreck it. Sheesh.
Good thing He didn't give up on us and Jesus re-presented the offer.
"Hey, the knowledge of good and evil thing didn't turn out so hot." *Jesus extends His hand* "Would you like to try the life option one more time?"
(Let's take Him up on His offer)
