God doesn’t enjoy punishing people and He doesn’t forgive with reluctance.
God wants to forgive us. It is not something He does out of duty. It was his idea; nobody had to twist His big, strong righteous right arm to do it. He’s an active forgiver, and rich in mercy (which means He’s got some to spare).
How do you think of God as you approach Him with failure? As a stickler waiting to interrogate you? Or as a good dad who runs towards returning prodigals without even bothering to ask for an explanation?
